Unsung Heroes: Parenting Orphaned Grandchildren

Aida Basheka, a widow raising her orphaned grandchildren joined the Rukinga Twimukye VSLA Group to help her learn how to support her family.

She benefited from trainings provided by the USAID/PIN project on kitchen gardening; she can comfortably provide her grandchildren with nutritious foods such as cabbages and eggplants.  In addition, she has learnt how to save, can afford to pay the children’s school fees and raise them.
