Home at Last: An Orphan’s Story

HIV positive Miria was always very sickly and weak. On a routine visit to the health centre, she came upon an abandoned child; the little girl was tiny and emaciated. According to health workers, the child was dangerously underweight and suffering from Tuberculosis.

Deeply moved by the plight of this little girl, she contacted local authorities; informed them of the child’s abandonment and declared her intent to adopt the little girl. She saw to it that the little girl received treatment for her ailments; the child was prescribed treatment for her TB along with a regimen of RUTAFA. The little girl is due for another review at the health centre and will reach her goal weight.

Miria is grateful to USAID/PIN and RECO Industries for making RUTAFA. She requests that the PIN project begin conducting trainings in her village so that others may benefit as well.
