For 30 years, RECO Industries has been producing quality locally grown foods for the Ugandan and regional market. A year ago we started a new kind of partnership with USAID UGANDA to produce Ready to Use Therapeutic Foods (RUTFs) and Fortified corn soya blend (FBFs) used to treat severe and acute malnutrition. The raw materials are sourced from local farmers in more than 21 districts in Uganda. This dynamic partnership is the Production for Improved Nutrition project, which is working to reduce under-nutrition amongst the most vulnerable especially children, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and people living with HIV/AIDS.
From the field to the health center, USAID support is enabling us to use private sector efficiency to build local capacity, strengthen the supply chain and improve nutrition outcomes for the most vulnerable.
